    2017 Employee Learning Week

    Lunchtime Webinar Speaker Series

    Kick-off Session:

       Leading SME's to Water

    Presented By: Shawn Rosler

    Monday, December 4th, 2017

    12:00pm - 1:00pm

About the Session: You know the process…we’ve all experienced it: SME hands binder full of knowledge to us, we try to both learn the material and craft effective training around it in what can only be described as an insane timeline, we make it happen at the expense of our sanity only to turn around and do it all over again.

If ONLY there was a way leverage the SME’s knowledge to assist us in our design and development processes…well, wait no longer.  In the mid 2000’s, presenter Shawn Rosler grew tired of the back and forth…tired of trying to wrap his head around every little thing that came in, only to have the SME send edits back by the truckload on materials and concepts he’d had yet to learn.

Necessity led to invention, of sorts, and Shawn put into place a process he’s referred to as “SME Driven Design” – A templated, SME-assisted approach to design and development which cut development time down, minimized edits/corrections, and increased potential development volume exponentially.

    About the Presenter:

Shawn Rosler has been an instructional designer, project manager, and developer of dynamic, interactive, and highly efficient computer and Web-based training for fifteen years. Recently, he has become co-owner and Vice President of Radius Leaders LLC, an organization focused on cultivating strong, motivated leaders in the workplace.

He's a frequent contributor to various industry-based publications; with his 2009 article “Trimming the Fat” appearing in T&D Magazine. Shawn has presented to academic, medical, and corporate audiences, covering an expansive array of topics, including: The eLearning Guild's 2009 Learning Solutions; the 2010, 2011, 2014, 15, and 16 DevLearn conference; and the Online Forums in 2012, as well as Penn State’s 2015 WebConference.

From the basics of adult learning theory to the real-world application of converting instructor-led training to a computer or Web base, he is an evangelist for trimming down processes while keeping them effective.  Most importantly, he’s been married to his incredible wife, Greta, for 14 years and holds the title of “Daddy” to his three amazing boys: Wesley, Chas, and Raymond.

    12:00pm - 1:00pm

    About the Session:

We deliver training, we make stuff for people to learn from. But will it work? Did it work?

In it, we'll cover how to triage learning requests, write assessments, speak like a stakeholder, and produce effective learning for people who think they have better things to do. The only hard part is keeping it simple, but -- armed with the handouts that will be shared in this session -- it can be!

    Lunchtime Webinar Speaker Series

    Kick-off Session:

    Being Strategic:
How to be strategic and get credit for it
    Successful Training

    Presented By: Tammy Heermann

    Wednesday, December 6th, 2017

    12:00pm - 1:00pm

    About the Session:

Strategic; it’s the label that everyone’s looking for. We lead with it on our resumes, we search for it on our 360 feedback, and we yearn for it from partners and funders. After all, strategic people are more successful, better paid, and have greater leadership potential. T

he quest to be perceived as strategic however, is a more difficult battle for women than men. One surprising study found that strategic ability was, in fact, women’s Achilles heel. In this session Tammy shows that being perceived as strategic is well within your reach; and it’s probably not what you thought. It’s not just the ability to produce a great looking strategy document or that you have the authority to make organization-wide decisions. It requires only that you be more deliberate. Being strategic is about stepping out of the day-to-day madness and recognizing moments of choice that serve tomorrow. You’ll gain a whole new perspective as we confront the misguided ideas and half truths about what being strategic means. In this session you will:

    • Learn practical ways to change perceptions of your strategic capability through the use of questions and points of view
    • Increase your ability to build and navigate relationships more strategically
    • Build a plan to increase your effectiveness as a strategic leader and build that capability in others

    About the Presenter:

Tammy is a sought-after advisor who helps individuals and organizations get serious about leadership.

    2017 Employee Learning Week

    Lunchtime Webinar Speaker Series

    Kick-off Session:

      Getting Internal Buy-in for eLearning

    Presented By: Ajay Pangarkar

    Thursday, December 7th, 2017

    12:00pm - 1:00pm

    About the Session:

Decision-makers often views training efforts as a line expense for a specific period. Rarely is any type of training activity considered an investment, apart from specific tangible elements.

Various aspects of e-learning initiatives are considered investments because they call for tangible financial requirements, including technology and supporting infrastructure viewed as capital expenditures. In this session you will discuss the specific financial literacy tools used to build a comprehensive financial structure to support your e- and m-learning projects and obtain senior management buy-in.

You will explore why trying to convince based only on qualitative factors is insufficient. You will use tools such as cost-volume-profit, break-even, and net-present-value to evaluate a training investment—the same tools senior management uses to run the business.

    Learning Objectives:

    • Apply financial tools to build an effective case for e/m-learning.
    • Utilize the financial skills to communicate e/m-learning.
    • Implement an e/m-learning budgetary/forecasting process.
    • The skills to communicate e/m-Learning effectiveness.
