Transformational Shifts in Learning and Development: Myths, Challenges, and Opportunities
Tuesday, September 19, 2017
6:00 P.M.-8:30 P.M.
Location: Novartis One Health Plaza Building 337 Room 104B East Hanover, NJ 07936 (Bring ID)
About this event:
The practice of learning and development is rapidly transforming to meet the demands of today’s modern business. Some of these transformations have been underway for a while now, while others are just getting started. What does this mean for learning and development? What will likely change and what should remain the same? In this session, we’ll discuss the evolution (some call it a revolution) in learning and development. We’ll explore some of the myths about what we do, and the challenges we face. But more importantly, we’ll focus on the opportunities that are emerging and how we can take advantage of it all. We’ll talk about technology, but not exclusively, as we also explore issues around design, implementation, culture, and organizational readiness. The thirteen transformational shifts we will cover include:
1. From eLearning to eWorking
2. From target populations to cyber intimacy
3. From courses to apps
4. From grades to experiences
5. From "teach me" to "guide me"
6. From information scarcity to information abundance
7. From course catalogs to knowledgebases
8. From content production to content curation
9. From compliance to certification
10. From push to pull
11. From learning 2.0 to learning 3.0
12. From single solutions to ecosystems
13. From struggle to buy-in
